PC Specs: Motherboard - Gigabyte HA65M-D2H-B3. Memory - Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8GB Ram @ 1333Mhz. Processor - Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2500K. Power Supply - CIT 650W Black Edition. HDDs - 1x Western Digital 500GB Sata III @ 6.0Gb/s, 1x Hitachi 500GB External HDD. Cooling - Akasa Venom CPU Cooler, Akasa 12cm Viper Case Fan, Akasa 8cm Case Fan. GPU - XFX 6870 1GB GDDR5. I have just purchased a second 6870 and a new motherboard that will allow crossfire, an overclocked processor (with ease) and 1600Mhz RAM. This motherboard is an 'MSI 14155 Intel P687 ATX Motherboard'. Now, here's the question, would my 650W supply enough power to firstly run all of my components (mainly the crossfire), and overclocked proccessor (to between 4.0Ghz-4.5Ghz from 3.3Ghz) and 1600Mhz RAM or will I need an upgrade?
I found a PSU calculator by ASUS and it said I would need a 950W PSU :/. Now that would screw me over 'cos that's another £110. Does this seem likely or should I go for like an 800W PSU to avoid bottlenecking, as they're considerably cheaper.
