Hello everyone, I bought my computer about 3 years ago and in anticipation of some games coming up I really am looking to upgrade. I would like to upgrade my video card and my RAM but I am very uneducated on the topic of computer hardware. If anyone could spare a few minutes to look at my computer spec's and help me determine a plan of action that would be greatly appreciated. My price range for the video card is about 100-150, and the RAM 50-100. I don't know what video card to buy that is compatible with my computer, same with the RAM. Any opinions or information regarding what i should buy is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

its a little over your budget, but that should be compatible to your motherboard.

and here's a RAM thats compatible, that you can probably get..

honestly, i would recommend a full pc upgrade, soon. your motherboard's becoming obsolete. start looking into some new parts, it definitely help you for your future move :)

I would agree with maxfed that you really should consider a whole computer upgrade. Though I was curious as to why you are not crossfiring your GPUs? As for the RAM to be honest anything over what you already have won't really have a big impact on performance. Plus you can only go up to 8GB and the 4GB single sticks are not worth the price.

    Hello All,

I'm a new starter here, my query here is exactly the same as eager

    my system is:
    PSU Corsair HX 850w
MOBO: XFX Nforce 680i LT SLI
    RAM: 4x2gb ddr2 800mhz
    CPU: q6600 stepping g0 @ 3.0ghz
    VGA: gigabyte gtx280 1gb
HDD: 2x500gb sata 2 single plate seagate RAID 0

I'm wondering on buying a new graphics card, 280 was a fail for me, it's always "kernel stop responding..." and it's garbage.

i'm thinking on buying a PNY Geforce GTX560TI XLR8 OC 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E 2.0 for a later SLI, as my mobo has 2X16 sli operation

Or if i ditch the sli and get the 6870 xturbo x from HIS

if i go for the 6870, can't do crossfire later unless i upgrade everything. I'm in Portugal, can't afford big changes, no money here lol...just kidding.

Thanks for your help on this query. Cheers!;)

If you have the money now for 2 560 ti's, personally that is what I would go with. You'll be able to play every game on the market now at high settings. You may also want to think about upgrading some of your other components as well, such as your RAM, CPU, Mobo
