    Hi,

I replaced a cracked screen on a sony vaio vpceb4j0e. Installed the screen, started it up all was ok. Re-assembled the unit and then the backlight seems to have failed on the screen!

Now for some reason the laptop wont even boot or work on an external monitor, the laptop powers up then after about 20 seconds the fan goes mad.

Does this sound like the graphics chip has failed?

    Hi,

Yes its possible it could be the graphics on the system board. Have you tried resetting the BIOS yet to see if that would help? I would unplug the power, remove the laptop battery and then also the laptop CMOS battery. Hold the power button down for about 10-20 seconds, then put it back together and try again. Also, try reseating the memory and also the video cables on the system board as well in case something isnt seated correctly.
