Recover files from crashed harddisk

    Hi all,

    My hard disk is crashed. Is there any way to recover my data from that. Actually i had connected the crashed hdd as my secondary hdd.It showing in my bios.But my os is not loading from the primary one. Please help to solve this.Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

    You may want to try something like BartsPE bootable cd to boot to and see if it can read your hard drive. I have seen where a bad hard drive as a secondary drive will not allow the main hard drive to boot the os. If you use the CD to boot, I would disconnect your main drive and just leave the bad one plugged in so you can boot to the cd and then try to browse the bad hard drive. Something else you can try as well is to buy an external adapter kit, they have ones that will convert a sata or IDe drive to a usb drive. You could then boot to your main drive normally, then once logged into windows, plug in the usb and see if you can read the bad hard drive at that point.
