I recently purchased an ASRock A75M-HVS Motherboard from Amazon and set it up as part of a new build.

The problem is I’m not getting any signal out of the onboard VGA port, however when I plugged in an independent graphics card, the output on the graphics card worked first time.

I just assumed this was down to a faulty VGA port on this particular motherboard unit.

However, I got a replacement unit from Amazon, set that up, but the new board has exactly the same problem!

Perhaps I’m just unlucky and have had two faulty units in a row, but before I order another replacement I wanted to consult the good people of this forum to see if I’ve made any glaring oversights.

Can anyone think why the onboard VGA output might be de-activated?

Also, In case you’re wondering why I don’t just leave the graphics card in the machine – I need it for another machine!

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

    Best wishes,
    J

    Hi Ghostman 1,

Thanks for the reply, but I’ve actually had a reply directly from Asrock this morning, and the processor I used doesn’t have an onboard GPU.

This is what they had to say…

“Please kindly note that AthlonII x4 631 does not have integrated graphics processor.
You need to install add-on VGA card with AthlonII x4 631.

For detailed CPU support list, please refer below link:
    http://www.asrock.com/mb/cpu.asp?Model=A75M-HVS

    So, that was my issue!

Not something I’ve ever considered in the past whilst building – but certainly will in the future!

    Thanks again.
