Scandisk Not enough memory error

    When I try to run scandisk, I get an error message. Not enought memory, please close any programs that are running and try again. Even with nothing running it still says not enough memory to run scandisk. Any ideas how to correct this?

    are you trying this in ms-dos or windows?

    windows.....It will scan in dos. I have determined a bad hard drive....I re-installed windows 98 and nothing else. It still will not scandisk. I have a 10gb western digital as well. With the installation complete, it scandisks fine. My 20gb is bad.....
