hi all, i just built a cheap pc with amd a6-3500 gigabyte ga-75m-ds2 kingston valueram 4 gb 1333 be quiet 350w psu when i turned it on, with dvi plugged in to the mobo, i couldn't get any video. I then put in an old gs8400, and with that connected i've been able to flash the bios and change the setting 'initial first display' to 'onboard', still doesnt work. wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to get the onboard graphics working? thanks
I am not sure on what you are saying here, You should not have to flash the bio's for nothing..You should have an Option in your bios to change from onboard video to agp or PCIe....If you cannot get video from either one , then it is a bad motherboard..
thanks for replying, i hope this is clearer i installed the parts listed above and a HDD, turned on the pc with the monitor connected via the DVI port on my mobo; this didn't work and didn't give me any video. then i added an old asus GS8400 videocard, and used it's DVI output, this way i get video. I then went into the bios and changed the option called 'init display first' to "onboard" (other options are PEG and PCI). Rebooted, connected monitor using DVI on mobo, again, no display. So can use the external asus graphics card, but can't get the integrated GPU to work using the DVI on the mobo.
Wait a minute here !!! You change your onboard video to a card, BUT you are still trying to use onboard settings in your Bios ??? Is your card PCIe OR ??? It should be set to PEG .... Do you have Normal VGA connection ? and can you try that..
I want to use my onboard video, but I can't get it to work. I only put in the old card, to check if I could get video that way, and i could. But since I wanted to use the onboard graphics, I then changed bios settings to IGX configuration internal graphics mode -> UMA uma frame buffer size -> 1024 Init display first -> onboard I don't have a VGA monitor around at the moment, will check that when I can.
Have you tried setting your Bio's settings to Default, then try your onboard video ? Have you tried another Monitor ? If Onboard Video doesn't work ,could be Motherboard .. How old is this computer ? 350 watt PSU is a little low for these days...
yes i've set bios to default, didnt work monitor isnt the problem, it works when plugged into the external graphics card this is a new build and shouldnt 350watt be sufficient for a small system like this? i've since installed windows 7 with the monitor plugged in to the external GPU, computer is working without problems, but i would like it to work using the mobo video exit
Does this motherboard have both Video plugins, VGA and DVI ?? Are you running windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit ? I Build All my computers with 500 to 600 PSU's.. Now days with 64 bit with 4 gigs of ram is Not enough...
