hello hardware forums.......i have bought a second hand dimension8100 128mb ram and i tried to run a demo on doom3 from pc gamer december issue i am not very adept on computer information but am learning fast.doom3 requires 384mb to run...i am willing to upgrade to 512mb single stick.....can you tell me if i can use sdram or do i have to use rdram...!!! please reply as i am desparate to find out either way.......thanks!!!

I would get the 512MB RDRAM PC800 (Kit) seems the best value. If you're using the video card that comes with the computer your not going to be able to play DommIII for it is very demanding in computer specs. You'll need to get atleast an ATI Radeon 9600XT. Even with the ram, and a 9600XT you still probably won't be playing near smooth. For your processor isn't all too fast. But at lowest settings at 640x480 resolution you'll be able to play it.
Fetus is right about the video card. However, I'd recommend an nVidia FX5700 or FX5900 for a good mid-end card, or any GF6000-series card for the more expensive cards. The reason for this is that nVidia cards currently have much better OpenGL support/performance, and Doom3 is an OpenGL game. Just my 2 cents... -AT
