I am looking to upgrade my system's memory. I currently have a 1GB DDR 2 6667mhz (PC2-5300) Ram. It CAS lateny is 5.0 clocks - i don't know what does these data mean?
I wish to upgrade it to 2 GB.
I got two Rams, tel me which one I should choose to get best compatiblity with previous RAM.
first ram is EVM 1 gb 667 mhz with 5-6-7-8-9-10-11 CAS Latency
and second Ram is Transcend jet ram 1 gb 667 mhz with 3, 4, 5 CAS Latency

what is CAS latncy and how does this affect?

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I USE 2 RAMS of different CAS Latencies? will it cause trouble.?

Kindly tell me which one to choose - evm or transcend

Column Address Strobe (CAS) latency, or CL, is the delay time between the moment a memory controller tells the memory module to access a particular memory column on a RAM memory module, and the moment the data from given array location is available on the module's output pins. In general, the lower the CAS latency, the better.

If you use 2 different CL it will not affect but you should focus on specification of RAM while upgrading memory. The speed and type should be the same. If you use different speed then all the memory will default to lower speed.

About brand: it doesn't matter most of times it completely depends upon you as which brand memory you want to purchase according to the price and popularity.

    Thanks,
    Neal
