Hello everyone. I have had a HP-Pavilion Dv6 for about a a year and 3 months and this laptop had broken a long time before but since it was not my computer it was my sisters she did not send it in to HP and ran out of warranty. When you turn on the Laptop the caps lock button blinks constantly without stopping but the screen remains blank. What I tried: Removing excess power by holding the power button and then try to turn it on with charger and still same problem. I've connected it to a external monitor..nothing. Tried connecting HDMI with TV and nothing. I read around forums and took note of others with the same problem and claimed to be getting the problem from a faulty GPU. I bought the computer a new motherboard and installed it so I won't have to reball and reflow the GPU and once I reconnected everything the computer still had the same problem! So, I need help to try and find the problem on this laptop. How can I know if its the CPU not responding or dead since I used the same CPU and had the same problem? SPECS: Product Number LW262UA#ABA Microprocessor 2.4GHz/1.5GHz VISION A8 Technology from AMD with AMD Quad-Core A8-3500M Accelerated Processor Microprocessor Cache 4MB L2 Cache Memory 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 DIMM) Memory Max Maximum supported = 16GB Video Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6750M
There can be a number of problems here... So you changed the Motherboard and still does the same thing ? Hook up an external Monitor and try that .. Sounds like the Screen was bad..And may still be bad..
Yeah I tried that with both motherboards and nothing I was thinking the GPU had heated up to much and caused a problem but im getting same problem with both motherboards. I connected both to a external monitor and it didn't work via vga or hdmi
Are you using the same GPU from the first Motherboard ? Or is it a different one? This is one of those Problems you will have to hunt down.. Starting with CPU/ram/ hard drive.. Fans/power supply and so on.. I run across a lot of weird stuff working on computer..
Thanks for your help I really appreciate it honestly. And no I'm not using the same GPU.. the mobo comes with it integrated in it.
