More cache is better, but having said that, the i3's aren't targeted at applications where it would make a difference. A good CPU is a start, but not the only thing. What you plan to do with your system is going to answer whether or not the CPU is good or not. The i3 is the mainstream option of the Core series processors. Much like you don't see a Ford Focus sporting a V8 engine like a Mustang might, a larger cache may not appear in a product like the i3. The particular type of RAM that makes up the cache is SRAM, where the S is for Static. It's fast stuff and expensive, so that's why we have DRAM (D for Dynamic) as the system memory. For reference: my Pentium E2160 with 1MB of cache does fine for me running Crysis 2, but I have a Radeon 7850 for a video card and I've also overclocked my CPU from 1.8 to 2.92GHz.
