Hi there!! I am all but a novice when it comes to computers - but i would really appreciate some help. Can anyone help me find out if there has been a programme put on my laptop that monitors everything that i type and do ie log in, takes a note of everything that i type (even if i was to press the delete key it would note this on the programme) I have seen this before, but i don't know if it is currently held on the laptop. (My boyfriend is trying to keep taps on everything that i do on the computer!!!)
Hi If he is trying to keep taps on then maybe its time for a new boyfriend? he possibly knows that you posting here. Someone else has asked this question before have a read here http://www.hardwareforums.com/showthread.php?t=2164
Have had a look at link you sent me - but i don't think these will help. It's a document that he opens up on the laptop (after i have used it - looks a it like notepad)
If he has loaded a keylogger on your computer, which is easily done, then you can do one of a few things: 1. Download an Anti-Virus program such as Grisoft Anti-Virus from: Here this should remove it. 2. Download Adaware or Spyware search and destroy, which should also pick it up.. Spyware Search And Destroy Adaware 3. Type consistently about your boyfriend being disrespectful and ignoring your privacy. 4. Get a new one.. 5. Trojan his PC, Whipe clean the autoexec.bat and fill it up with "RM Now You Regret KeyLoggin Me Don't You Bitch, It's Over.." or something along those lines.. (but copy millions of times).. *Note suggestion 5 is not at all serious, not funny and it is illegal without the enemy.. i mean target.. :good:
Already have spybot - search and destroy, spywareblaster and ad-aware on laptop - would this program keylogger (if it has been installed on the laptop) be visible in the 'add or remove programme' section on the computer?
No, it is not a peice of software as such, it is usually seen as a form of trojan, a malicious peice of software. Install an Anti-Virus, update and scan, if that does not pick anything up then you can be quite happy that there isn't one on your computer. However if you want to double check, install one anti-virus, update and scan, then if nothing comes of that, install a different anti-virus, update and scan. If nothing still comes out, i would say there is nothing on your computer.
Key logging you? Thats a bit harsh. I would never let anyone track what I'm typing like that. If he doesn't trust you with a computer then why should you trust him? I know I'm not keeping to the subject. Tell the ba**ard your finishing him. If not then you may be able to find a program on the net that will allow you to keylog his computer. Then he may know what its like.
Ran two different scans on the computer. It didn't come up with anything - i presume that it would say trojan somewhere? Just some tracking ones and HKEYS? But think i removed all - remember i don't know a lot about computers!!
Well, there is one thing that would blow it all out of the water: Reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows, and that also entails reinstalling all your programs. Not exactly the most fun route, and not one I'd really want to send you on unless absolutely necessary. But, that is a little extreme. Without knowing exactly what we're looking for, combating it is a problem. There's also some for parents to keep track of there kids habits, and theoretically, this might not be classified as spyware, per say. That's a long shot and only theoretical. At this point, if you haven't caught it with Spybot and Adaware and a few different Anti-Virus scanners, the chances are real slim you still have anything. It sounds like you've got a man that's a control freak. Before just downright dumping him, talk to him about it. If he doesn't give a satisfactory reply, then I'd get the hell out of that relationship, because you shouldn't have to put up with this crap.
Thanks for all your help - lets hope that there is nothing on the computer!! There are good reasons why he has done it - i was the bad one not him. But he is just still paranoid!!
