I was wondering if there is any performance differences between Nvidia's xfx and Pny? Just for instance, if I got a fx 5200, would they both perform the same?
Most vendors just follow the reference design supplied by nVidia so they'll all more or less perform the same. So the main difference is the bundled extras you get with it lke cables, overclocking utilities discs, games etc.
Thanks, I was just wondering because I always used xfx and liked it but pny are a little cheaper. You can get a pny with the fan for the same price as an xfx without one. I was just wondering if they cut any corners.
PNY is not a brand I'm likely to use again, nor recommend to someone. While, yes, you don't need to buy the most expensive card, the quality of the product is also something you should consider. I haven't used any XFX products before, but what I have used from PNY makes me doubt their quality control. If you're looking to do any gaming, I'd pass on the FX5200, simply because it's not able to deliver on performance.
Yep you can find a similarly priced card that would do better like a normal Radeon 9600 for around £50.
I found a good priced xfx GeForce FX 5700 LE 128MB. Do you guys have any comments on that video card? I got a xfx GeForce4 440 SE 64MB right now.
LE are bad cards for gaming. Get the 9600 addis posted if you don't wanna spend much. LE's are not for gaming whatsoever and I would be shocked if they could play Counterstrike at 1024x768 with decent frame rates
