Hi, im just researching on P.C building and have a few questions id like to know about. First is RAM latencies. Is this about the time delays on RAM ect? Im not sure on this so could someone explain fully what this means? Second is about choosing the correct RAM for my MOBO/CPU. How do you pick the best RAM for the system? For an example, what would be the best RAM to choose for a : - AMD Athlon FX55 CPU Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi Motherboard. Lastly, about overclocking, i hear the AMD FX55 is best overclocked to 2.8GHz. If i buy this chip and board, and overclock the CPU to 2.8GHz, i understand its going to get pretty hot. Would i need to totally replace the heatsink fan on the CPU? How would i go about properly cooling it down. Thanks for reading.
http://www.ocfaq.com/article.php/overclocking/63 That link will explain the "need to know" on the ram latency as for the ram you buy: - 4 x 184-pin DIMM Sockets support max. 4GB DDR400/DDR333/DDR266 ECC/ non-ECC un-buffered DDR SDRAM memory - Dual Channel Memory Architecture It needs to be in matched pairs for dual channel...so if you dont know much about it buy the boxed set for dual channel with the specs above so you know you are getting the correct ram. As for overclocking, this site has overclocking sections, I feel if you dont know how, dont do it at all. Hardware is cheap now so buying a processor with stock speeds of what you want to run is not out of the question. looks like you would want to buy PC3200 DDR, brand is up to you, but buy it in "MATCHED PAIRS".
