Hi i have a laptop and wanted to make one of my keyboards work with it but my keyboards were ps2 so i went and bought a ps2 adapter to usb. this is were it all went wrong i was hoping it would work fine but gess wot it didnt. it did run as plug and play. now i not sure if this problem can be solved i no i have no drivers for the key board and let alone that i need the drivers to now be usb compatible can n e 1 help i want this key board to work on my laptop.
2 things: What laptop do you have? What keyboard do you have? By all accounts it should work just fine, but I'm not sure specifically what it's doing or not doing. It doesn't work isn't terribly specific.
sorry i cant of explaind it well. Right i want an external keyboard on my laptop. i had some spare ps2 keyboards but my laptop does not support ps2 only USB. so i tought insted of buying another key boad i would get an adapter. i then set it up pluged it in and found..... that my laptop could not install the hard ware. i have no drivers to install it and i also dont no if the drivers for the ps2 keyboard would work if i did get them.... i don think theres n e point in the laptop name but its an toshiba satpro a40. the keyboard well i have 2 i tryed one of witch i dont no the names as its one that came with my pc. and the other is a pcline wireless keyboard and mouse but thats about the most percific i can get with out looking for it online.
Just try downloading the drivers for the keyboard off of the manufacture's website if they're on there or you could look elsewhere and see if that helps. Keep us updated.
Okay. Now that it's a wireless keyboard, I can see that making a difference. Not because of the PS/2 or USB part, but because it's wireless. There's also the possibility that Windows doesn't have native support for that keyboard. Without either downloading the driver for the keyboard or getting a different/new one, there's really nothing else to do here.
ok well windows does support this keyboard. i have used it on my pc and it works fine but then when i wanted to us it on my laptop i needed it to be usb so i bought an adapter. this is were the problem is windows doesnt reconise it with the usb adapter.
I'm guessing it's probably the usb-ps2 adapter, I know here we get on average 4 out of 10 back due to them not working, so they don't seem all that reliable.
ok i understand u thinking that but the pc does reconise the adapter well at least that somehting it there but it does not install it
Have you tried just doing the install wizard and letting it automaticly search for drivers and install itself?
