Hi anyone, I don't know if there is anyone here that can give me some advice regarding my computer memory. I have installed an extra 128mb memory to the existing 128mb I had. It shows that the 256mb has been recognised but it still tells me that I have only 23% memory free and when I scan photos on my scanner, it tells me that I don't have enough memory to carry out the complete scan. I have also installed an extra 200GB hard drive to my previous 20GB on another drive "D". It will not run scandisk or defrag on the new 200GB drive as it reminds me it has not enough memory to do so. Any one to advise please. I run windows 98SE. regards

If you haven't, reboot the system first before running scandisk or the defragger.

The other thing I'm thinking is that Win9x (includuing 98SE) installs tend to degrade over time, enventually requiring a reinstall of the OS to make the system useable. If you haven't had the OS reinstalled in the past year, you're probably due for one.
