I got a TFT monitor that needs cleaning. I searched around the net and posted questions on forums about how to go about cleaning it and what with. Most of the results i got back said that cleaning it was a bad idea. Some said use just water with a fine cotton cloth and others just suggested stupid things like "use mr sheen"! After this dissapointing result i had an idea. I realized that the reason tft's are so vulnerable is because they are soft. Does anyone know is anyone makes hard clip on covers for tft monitors so that instead of needing to clean the monitor itself you clean the transparent cover.
No, however your nearest thing would be an Anti-Radiation screen, but they are horrible and will practically make your TFT a CRT. I have 2 TFT's and 2 LCD's throughout my household, and the for the TFT's i merely get a soft cloth or a clean, soft towel and wipe the screen dry, of any physical hazards, then use a similiar towel, or soft cloth and wet it with luke warm water, but make sure it's merely damp ie: no water can be squeezed out or wringed out of it, then wipe the screen with a steady hand - without any firm pressure being applied, then use the non-used side of your dry, soft cloth to dry the monitor, or just leave to dry naturally, making sure there are no "runs" of water, but this shouldn't happen as long as your damp cloth is "damp" not "wet". I've done this for 2 years with one of my TFT's and never had a problem (its my oldest).
Certainly seems like that would be the best way. Ill give it a try. Although i dont understand why tft and lcd screens dont have a hard surface. Its yet another oversight in modern technology.
I'd say get some "TFT screen wipes" from [link=http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=14532&a=1058515&g=86005]Dabs[/link] do a search for "tft screen wipes" I think its around £5 for 100 tissues.
