help with new build

    :good: looking for some advise as i am building a new tower my shoping list is.

    Mobo.............Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Sock939,2x PCI-express
    MSI K8N SLI-Platinum,Socket 939,PCI-Express,SATA

    Processor.......AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester 90nm (939 Pin) - Retail

    vga cards.......MSI 128Mb GeForce 6600GT TD PCI-express VGA Card (x 2)

    Hard drive.......250Gb Maxtor DaimondMax10 S-ATA 16Mb Cache Hard Drive

    Mem..............Corsair TwinX 1GB DDR (2x512MB) XMS3200XL PRO

    the rest of the bits i will scab from my old tower apart from the case and psu
    so firstly which of the 2 mobos would you pick and does this set up look balanced and could someone recomend a god case and psu i have about £100 left in my budget

    Holy crap your gonna have fun with that. You're gonna need more than exceptional cooling and power for that beast! I woud not know which to suggest, but I've heard some good stuff about that Asus!

    From the few reviews I've read, the MSI board is actually better than the Asus.

    As for a power supply, I'd pick a 420W or better unit from Enermax, Thermaltake or Fortron/Sparkle.

    While this 560W unit is plenty more than you need, I'm not as familiar with the UK online shops.

    The only Thermaltake units to stay away from are the Butterfly ones. I've heard those are not of the same quality as the SilentX PurePower ones.

    You're also going to want to steer clear of buying a case with a PSU included. The vast majority of the time, these PSU's are low-quality units, and despite claiming 500W or so, the tolerances aren't going to be as good.

    hi decided to go with the msi mobo if only because i managed to get a discount on it with buying 2 msi 6600GT VAG cards, With running these in sSLI mode i read that the peformance is up the with the ATI X850XT all for £240 going to look at the psu's sugested and will get back to you lot later
