Help! When I go into my Computer to view my drives, my C:\ drive shows the icon of a non-reference drive. It does not show a picture of a harddrive.
When I double click to open the drive it say " The System cannot find the device specified. I have tired going into the device manager and removing it and leting windows reinstall the hardware, I have defargmented the drive still the same.
I am using Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 4100.
I have made no hardware changes.
    Please Help ! :chk:

Have you tried loading "the last known good configuration" option during start-up? have you installed something new not hardware but software?

so you are unable to access no files on the drive?

You'll lose only the changes that have been made since the last system restore point. You won't lose any critical files, but if you've got something important you've saved recently, you might want to back that up.
