Basically the Winchester Core i have is a good overclocker, i could overclock ot 250FSB 1:1, problem i have is i am going away in exactly 13 days for 6 months. And some how i don't think i really want my computer to be left to for 6 months, surrounded by people who.. although IT literate won't look after my pc :good: and when something does go wrong, some idiot who knows nothing about computers will be paid a ridiculous amount of money by my family to fix it - and they won't even do it properly. Hence why i don't want to overclock
Yeh i've got one of the Artic Coolers: Artic Cooler 64 Freezer - its pretty good, but i havn't applied my Artic Silver correctly, (not enough has been applied), so im getting slightly more heat. ATM, i'm getting 44C on Max Load @ Stocks which is alot higher than it used to be, i used to have it @ 34-36C full load. But what i'm going to do is once my VGA cooler fan arrives is rehaul my whole system, rewire it, do a clean format on my 80GB Raid set (160GB) and install a copy of Windows XP Pro SP2 & Yoper Linux. Load all my software on, reorganise both os's menu's / file structures, then cut them down to lite OS's, (mainly XP) so i'll get rid of all the stuff i don't/won't be using and have a completely clean & modified system built and ready for my every need, with everything completely automated then.. i'll pack it away in an Anti-Static bag, and put it inside my Case Box, seal it up. and leave it in my loft whilst im away.
[ot]you know if HWFs went down for good my IT life would end...[/ot] I'm not that good at looking after my PCs. I don't really do regular maintenance until something goes wrong, which is probably too late.
I have abit of an addiction with maintaining my computers. I am constantly ALWAYS trying to make my PC run as quiet / silent as possible whilst holding a maximum amount of cooling efficiency - and able to overclock on this. so far i've modified my case as such: I've taken an Industrial engineers drill with a 80mm hole cutter drill piece to the front and back grills of my case, removing any instance of air turbulence. I've also taken out all the front mesh (which looked "nice", but did nothing else), allowing for a completely cleared gateway to the inside of my case. Acoustic matting / silent case fans / cabling all hidden to restrict, acoustic matting surrounding all screws / hard drives / opticals / floppy drives to eliminate vibration. The only thing making any noise really now, is my 6600GT - which is incredibly loud, but i've just got a Zalman Silent VGA Cooler, and also ordered a Silent fan for it. Carefully chosen DVD-RW / HDD so even at full use they make a minimal amount of noise, i've got a hard drive cooler / silent arriving tomorrow. As for software, Spyware / Firewall / AVG is all kept upto date every few hours across my network and my own computers, including a 250GB P2 300MHz which is a automatic backup server for all My Documents / Music & downloads of all machines, and there are AVG scans every day on each machine.
That crazy... I have parts if they work great...if they work quietly even better ...if they dont oh well ill live

Very nice!! Wouldn't mind trying that myself if I had a spare rig lying around!
ei procal where did you get your Crucial Ballistix PC4000??? i was looking for one in overclockers.co.uk, just wanna compare first the price before gettng one...
I don't care how loud my PC is. As long as it's cool, and I can sleep with it on. You're system sounds like your having some fun with your PEE CEE
Yes overclockers.co.uk Without trying to Plug them, i find that they supply quality parts, and rarely have problems with them, + if i order everything from one supplier it makes things simpler. Goto overclockers.co.uk, then goto the memory section, then goto crucial, then Ballistix, then Dual Channel Kits. It's great stuff
