Hello people! i Have a 5.1 Kenwood Audio System connected to my computer, it is not a PC Speaker Set, instead a home cinema type connected through an Amp. I have an 8" Subwoofer lying right under my desk about 40cm away from the Computer Case. As one of my friends mentioned: I shouldn't put the subwoofer that close to the system, as Magnetic Field from the subwoofer can damage the internals of my computer. Is this in fact true? And if so, what can I do to avoid any problems? A Metalic separtor wall perhaps? Or should I consider moving the Case and subwoofer apart -> how far apart should I put them?. That would be very unpleasant as currently i got a great set-up for movies and games.
So please tell what this can lead to to, and how can I avoid it? Thanx a lot. :good:

Magnetic fileds can damage computer hardware, but as long as they're not right next to each other, and not being moved they should be ok, magnetic fields which move induce an electric current. Components like hard drives, monitors or ones which rely on, or are sensitive to magnetic fields can be damaged but i doubt that your system will be so with a subwoofer. Just don't keep it too close to the computer.
