ok i have a really irritating problem with my comp
one day it decided that it wasnt gonna turn on properly...
when i power up, the HDDS spin, the dvd drives light up, the fans fire up, but the comp isnt actually doin anything...
there is no video output at all
so i thought maybe the vid card is broken?
i put another 1 in an problem remains
i began to search on the net for solutions and the only one i could find was to replace the PSU
so i found an old computer in my house an ripped out (not literally :D) the PSU an put it in my machine
it then began to work and ran for a few hours until...
it freezes up completely so i turn off the power to reboot and guess wat?
    its got no video again!!!
does anybody have any ideas as to what the problem could be cos this is driving me mental
if i take it apart and tinker with the wiring etc it sometimes turns on but always after a few hours is freezes up and the problem reapears on reboot
    please please please help me!!!!!!!!!!
its so frustration as every time i get it running again an i think "woohoo its fixed" it always just messes up again
thank you for your time :)

Have you tried clearing CMOS? DO this by shorting clear CMOS jumpers, or disconnecting power and taking out battery then letting sit for a minute then put back together.

No video is a very hard to diagnose problem, bad ram, bad CPU, bad video card, bad motherboard, insufficient power supply are all possibilities. Just gotta eliminate them one by one, usually RAM is the first to go. Power supplies to deteriorate over time. Any specs you can share?

ok how does this rate on the weirdness scale...
i put in some ram from my dads comp but it didnt work
then i put my old ram back in an pushed in all the cards and power connectors from the PSU an it fired up fine...
im guessing it will prolly freeze up again like it always does...
could it be that a loose connection has been the key 2 all this?
could that explain why it randomly freezes when it has been turned on?
and what part is the most likely 2 have the loose connection?
    thanks alot for the help!!!

Pretty darn wierd, maybe an 8 or so :). I'm guessing it was the ram then, given that it didn't freeze again. It's possible your dad's ram wasn't compatable. Maybe your ram had come unseated somehow and that was the prob but it just doesn't seem too likely. Hey if it's working who cares?

you could have had some loose connections, or RAM couldn't have been seated fully/knocked loose somewhere along the line
