Well... I think the title pretty much says it all, but to elaborate - I hate those people and/or bots that have been coming on here and posting all the "Get this - I signed up for it" junk! I hope they fall over and die. Along those lines, it just occured to me - Sniper, is it possible to make it so that you can only sign up if you respond to some email after you create a username and password? (or is it already that way :x: ) *edit* I just remembered this - A guy in the U.S. got sentenced 9 yrs in prison for sending email spam! He sent over 10million a day! If you want to check it out, feel free
I dnt hate all spam coz i do alot of it to be honest bt i do hate spammers that sign up pureply to spam
Hey Fred yeh we do have it setup like you suggested but most people tend to have emails just for such things so you can't stop it really. Its not only our forum but other forums have the problem is well, but luckly the posts get deleted and users banned pretty quick as our members are quick to report such posts.
And as our forums rule so much, we rarely get troublesome visitors, and in any case, they get a rapid beating with the banning stick from B. But making a living of 300,000 quid a month from sending email....hm. *ka-ching*
I actually tracked down the spammer you're talking about, Fred. It was some kind of company in Australia, but it was hard to tell exactly what they did since the name was so ambiguous.
I really don't know why they bother, nobody's actually gonna sign up for the free gift scam, since you have to sign up for other marketing schemes, which probably cost just as much as they gift itself, and they're gonna get banned anyway and link removed. people never learn
I seem to get spam for Free iPods, TV's, Rolex watches, software, etc. For awhile, I was getting e-mails about product to increase the size of my manhood, but they stopped...or was it after I changed e-mail addresses?
All we need now is some pre-cognitives, a weird pool, 1 1/2 hours of time and some balls. Pretty simple. Or a system where anyone with a post count <50 can't post with anything that contains free ipod/tv/viagra and 'pleasure your woman better today!'.
This is what you need... E-mails coming from a computer on the spam database are sent directly back to the computer, not just the e-mail account, that sent them. http://money.cnn.com/2005/03/22/technology/ibm_spam/ IBM set to use spam to attack spammers - Mar. 22, 2005
it'd be awesome if u could send a virus back with a return letter, can you? yea wtf is it with the viagra, they're like attacking every1s email lol
