CD/DVD ROM Problem

    Hi to all,
    I have just purchased a Advent 7001 Laptop from e-bay.The CD/DVD will not work,It's not even showing in control panel or device manager!! It spins when you put in a CD/DVD but nothing happens. Please HELP

    Well chances are the laptop is either bust, which is why they sold it, or it got damaged in the post.

    If it shows up in Device Manager, under "unknown devices", do a "recommended driver search" and it'll find one.

    Thanks. all that shows up in device manager that has a ? is video controller (vga compatible with no drivers. could this be anything to do with it???

    click on storage devices or something similar and see if its there.

    no listing of storage devices???
