I upgraded my system to a Machspeed motherboard with an AMD64 3000+. Now my system will not boot. It gets past the post then show the "windows was not shutdown properly safemode safemode lan..... normal Well if I choose on of the safemodes it starts to show all the drivers it is loading upon completion it just reboots As does the normal selection. Its an infanite Loop Anyone know why XP will not boot and let me update my drivers for this new motherboard. I really do not want to have to reload everything and on that note I didn't back up the HD prior. That means I have to reinstal the old MB just to back it up. UHHH<<< What a pain Thanks Greg
You need to reinstall windows with any motherboard change. Another thing against windows. You can put your old motherboard back in to back all your stuff up.
Thanks it worked as a repair. I had to redo some of my personal settings but all in all, my files were there. Thats what I wanted. Took me all of about 10 mins. to fix the settings. Thanks again Greg
yeah, but being that you are basically reinstalling windows and leaving everything else intact. There are somethings I've noticed that haven't worked for me after a repair, mostly instability of games
I never seem to have problems. The only problem is having to reinstall all the updates again but other than that, just fine. What annoyed me last time was that I re-installed Windows so that it won't say something about new hardware and having to get a new serial key and that was the first thing it said after re-installing it ... grrrr!
