can someone tell me if i can replace the excisting chips with two 512 mb regardless of the limit or i can only replace one. what i'm trying to do is dubble the speed or at least make faster than what it is.

i will appreciate any knowledge droped. :good:

if the max it allows is 1GB RAM then yes two 512MB will work fine. You can sell your older ram.

I still quite unsure what your question is asking so I tried my best...

As that's a pretty new computer you've got the I'd simply go with two 512MB PC 3200 dimms, as you probably thought. You could buy 1 single 1gig dimm but there's really no point. Stick with some decent value ram companies, G-Skill is a good place to start.

Hi there! In my case I could only find one slot with a 512 under my vaio vgn a690. It shows 1G, I've replaced this single slot with a 1000G and now it shows 1.5G. Of course if makes sense, but anyone knows were the other slot is ? Or how to upgrade to 2G ?
