hi. this is my first post, and the forum says why shouldnt I make my first post today to say "hi" to the community.. so.. Hi everybody OK now to get to the point : I've got an older pc ( amd athlon 1200 ) and recently I have started rebuilding my PC ( don't have enough cash to buy a new one ) so first I bought a new motherboard ( nForce 2 ) and some RAM ( 256 DDR @ 400 ) and a new graphichs card ( not so new anymore lol GeForce FX 5200 ) anyway. When I start up my pc bios shows me that my RAM is working @ 200 Mhz instead of 400. Now I've tried to fix this through Bios, but in the chipset menu this option is set to 200 and its not editable. No matter what I do I can't edit this. My bios is Phoenix - AwardBios v6.00PG Hope someone can help =)
Don't worry your RAM is going at full speed. DDR ratings are double their true clockspeed. E.g. your DDR400 RAM is actually 200MHz but since its DDR (double data rate) it doesn't matter.
you also might have noticed that ur processor fsb on your processor will be half that stated it should be eg. i have a 333fsb amd 3000+ athlon xp chip that in bios only states that it is 166. i know this has nothing to do with ram but i just thought that i would add this just incase you get confused about the processor.
