I just built a brand new system:

    ABIT NF8
    Sempron 2600+
    2x256mb Kingston PC3200
    Asus 9550 128mb
    Enermax NoiseTaker 485W
    WD 80gb sata
    Some burner
    Floppy

    All parts are brand new.

When I turn the system on, the fans spin, the LEDs light up, but there is no display on the monitor and no beep codes whatsoever.
I checked if the speaker cord was plugged in correctly.

I think the board was DOA, what do you think ?

The psu, the video card and the ram are all fine.

Tomorrow I'll have another cpu to test the board with. After that, I'll know for sure whether the problem is the cpu or the main board.

In the meantime, if anyone has anything to say, please do.

It does sound like a DOA dude!

I would try the motherboard outside the case with the minimum components...

Always possible you got a bad PSU. Enermax is a good company, but you could always happen to get a bum unit.

You should have tried clearing the BIOS.

Since there is no beeping at all i'm forced to think the cpu as well as the memory is ok..

I'd surely go for unplugging and plugging back in the video card, maybe it's not fitted in properly..
Could also be defective of course...Good Luck

Alright I received a new ABIT NF8, from a local store.

I plugged the power switch, the speaker, both ATX connectors, pressed the switch: the fan starts to spin and stops right away.

There's no way two boards from 2 different places have the exact same problem...

So I unplugged the Enermax 485W and tried my antec True480: I hear beeps !!

I try the Enermax on my computer w/ everything plugged(MSI K8N Neo2....): it works perfectly.

So...what do you think ? If I give my friend the Antec and Keep the Enermax, do you think it'll go up in flames or is it just one of those things no one can explain?
