    Howdy, Ladies and Gents,

First time in forum and, of course, I've got a question.

I've pretty well decided on the processor type (Intel) even knowing the arguments to the contrary.

    Having said that:

Is the Intel P4 660 compatible with the 955x chipset??

For instance the ASUS P5WD2 can be had with the 955x chipset and the specs. indicate (at Newegg)that it supports Intel Pentium EE(HT)/Pentium 4 HT/Pentium D processors. The is at odds with information from the Intel website.

If the 660 isn't compatible with the 955x might someone be able to refer me to a definitive comparison between 945 P or G Express, 925XE or X Express or the 915 Express Chipsets that I might make an informed decision when ordering the Mobo.

Opinions would, also, be greatly appreciated

    Don

The 955X does support the P4 660, as well as any LGA775 processors.

    Harrak,

That was my thought also. I make potentially expensive decisions in my work and seldom ever have problems. No sweat, it's corporation money. When it's my money and I'm the one that has to pay the bill an send components back via RMA, well ...................reassurances seemed to be in order.

    Thank you,

    Don
