I was messing in Photoshop, when suddenly my screen goes black. The computer was still on, the monitor was still on, but all black. Then a box comes up that looks like this:

    ---------------
    Self test
    ---------------
Check your PC and signal cable
    ---------------
    Monitor is working
    ---------------

So I turned off my computer, reconnected the monitor cables and rebooted, and still the same thing.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

Have you tested the monitor in another computer to see if it works there? Also, try a second monitor in that computer and see if it is also blank or not. If you don't have the hardware to test this then it's probably not going to be easy to debug this. A blank screen can have numerous causes and you need to eliminate the easier options before you go poking around inside your machine.

If your monitor is fine and the second monitor is also blank then check if the graphics didn't come loose, also check the CPU's heat in the BIOS to see if it's overheating. If it's none of those let me know and we'll take it from there.
