    Hi all

Administarators, please move this if it is in the wrong place.

What is the most resource hungry game out there?

Is FarCry concedered a very 'hungry' game?

    Thanks for your input, saba

    :good:

Doom 3 is probably one of the most resource demanding games, but it plays poorly on any hardware to be honest, so not a great example.

Far Cry was pretty demanding last year, but today's hardware handles it easily.

I would agree with Doom 3. But it mainly depends on what kind of card you have, some games work better on different kinds of cards than others.

May sound weird but Max Payne 2 now has messed up sound because my GFX card is too good for it.

It depends on what settings you want to run it at and what kind of hardware you're using obviously. HL2 runs very well on a GeForce 4MX when everything is turned down, but if you try maxxing the settings you'd better have some pretty impressive hardware to back it up. Only with the 512MB 7800Ultra will there be an ideal platform for Doom3 but it runs quite well on lower settings.
FarCry is also very demanding, both with the CPU and GPU, but as people have said that was mostly last year. Battlefield 2 is a total ram hog, some even recommend having 2gigs or ram for the game, not to mention at least a GeForce 5700 and a respectable cpu, that latter two for minimum requirements almost.
Stalker, if it ever comes out will be very intensive. It requires a 1.8Ghz processor and 128Mb's or vram as a minimum, not good for the faint of hardware.

This is where overclocking comes in :good: But yea, all new games on full settings are pretty intense. Can't wait until Halo 2 comes out for PC.

In two years...It unfortunatly won't be that great by the time it comes out, in terms of gfx and technology anyway, the gameplay will still hold though.

farcry will actually have better performance on all sorts of GPUS once the patches are loaded, as well as latest drivers from the GPU manufacturer

but yes it is a bit performance hungry

Doom 3 runs terribly on almost everything but nvidia, then rapes my resources.
