Just tell me what video card you have and use the poll. Any futher opinions are cool too. I've got an XFX 6800 (non GT/Ultra) and it's okay. It plays things like Painkiller and MaxPayne 2 flawlessly on max settings but FarCry could be better and HL2 is a major dissappointment on this card. If it had GDDR3 256Mbs or vram I probably wouldn't be complaining though. EDIT: Low-end cards: 9600/5700 (non-pro/Ultra and below) Mid-range cards: 9600 Pro/5900 (or 5800U)-X700/6600 High-end cards: X800SE or X700 Pro/6600GT-X850XTPE/7800GTX or above.
Man, what a bummer, what are you calling your card? Lowend or highend? I was thinking midrange myself.
9600xt - mid. I love it though Never given me any problems and overclocks well with minimal heat output.
idk its biased it plays amazingly on doom3 but for example if i put those settings on cs:s then i get artifacting i think, purple marks on the tiles and some walls, and it looks horrible and i still get like 100 something fps, not all video cards are created equal
The only game that gives me artifacts is FarCry, some shadows are super bright and ultra saturated, like a glowing yellow thing. I'd get a patch but it's too big and I don't play it any more.
i used to have no shading and hard a*s artifacting in farcry, but after i downloaded the patches the problems went away i just had to have artifacting on counterstrike, a game which i suck at and addicted to
yeah my card isnt amazing, its alright for what i do though, i mean i dont do any gaming so i dont need a killer graphics card, its an old MSI GeForce Fx 5200 (128Mb) andd its fine for what i do, if i did get into gaming though i'd have to upgrade the memory, cpu, motherboard and then go for a nice PCI-e card....but i dont need to yet
i play on a laptop at the moment lol... but actually im pulling 40 fps in cs:s... i believe i have a geforce go fx 5200 64mb, and its not too shabby i must say
For what I do, the 6600GT is more than I need, but it'll do just fine, considering how often I game these days.
