ok well at first i checkd my hdd propertied and it said that 2 of my hdd partitions had 0 bytes capacity and had nothing on them, then i tried to access programs and non would run, then i tried cmd and it could not be forum so i could not try scan disk, so i restarted the computer, and everyhting appeard to be fine, but when i was on games, then exited a game, the reseloution was always at 800 x 600 instead of 1152 x 768 reseloution, i noticed that all games like half life 2 are running extreamly slow, sometimes freezing and this did not happen before, and the welcome to AOL voive on aol was really slow and laggy, could these be releated, i am very worried, nothing seems to be going right .
Have you tried a virus scan? A spyware scan? Defragging? Deleting temporary files? Deleting cookies? Checking the CPU temperature? A registry checker? Safe mode? Reading your firewall logs for any recent break-in attempts? Chucking out your broken browser and going with Firefox? Looking at the case to make sure no-ones spilled coffee inside? Anything???
lol i had to restore my computer becouse of deleating tempory files, i dont have a firewall becouse it kept making a blue screen of death come up. last person to be in the case was me, and i dont drink coffe, well not frequently anyway ;D.
no firewall? does your computer hate you for that? what firewall did you use, i use sygate and then i have mcaffee internet security as well which has a firewall, and i recently saw in a pc magasine how to turn a really old pc into a hardware firewall using a program called smoothwall, i cant wait until my aunt gets her new computer then she's going to giv me hers, then i can try it, should be so cool....
*edit, i think this should have being in general software :\ i used macaffe firewall too, also i have restored my computer and its still slow as ever, on aol its freezing for short periods of time very often, going on start/ all programs takes ages to load, i have scanned for viruses, it came up wit one before called update13.js or somthing also both times i restored my computer (yesterday and today) when installing windows, it could not install a file called wbemcore.dl, i think thats what it was called, and another wich had wbemcore in its name, so i am wondering if it could be that, or a virus that cant be forund, or hardware failure.
Just for the hell of it try a defrag, I would suspect a software error at this point. Perhap you could also try a full re-install of Windows. As for a firewall, a hardware one is the way to go. At the moment I'm using an old 200MHz computer running Devil Linux as my firewall. Easy to setup, works just fine. It also comes with AV software so it can scan for viruses even before they get to your main computer.
yea but i cant use another computer, becouse my mum will go on about it being a waste of electricity, also my router has built in firewall, i have tried a full reinstall of windows twice and both came up with not bieng able to copy wbemcore.dl or somthing like that, but i skipt those files. the same error keeps coming up time and time again, but is it those 2 files (wbemcore.dl or somthing) that could be causing everyhitng to go slow, also everythingt wont stop freezing now.
This *might* help: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll...es/W/wbemcore.dll/5.1.2600.2180/download.html
also, somthing else is wrong, when i look in my computer properties, were it shows you what processor and how much ram you have, its not showing anyhting on processor, and also when i try to get speed fan to work, it says no such interface supported, it worked fine before the last 2 restores, i am wondering if there is a hardware failure or if my cpu is on its way out. what should i do with that file i downloaded from the link>?
