all right, probably my first real annoying problem with my system. i insert my guitar on many computers with a Stereo to Mono line adapter, on all computers it plays loud, distortion filled beauty, but on my system I can barely hear it. ive even gotten to the point that my volume is at max on my guitar, and same with gain, and volume is max on my computer, and I barely hear it at all, all other apps like game playing work fine, and sound awesome on my T3000 creative 2.1 speakers, but why is my line in so quieted down. microphone is in boost even, and unlocked, unmuted, and even set on highest drivers on my computer are updated, its an ALC850 CODEC I would worship anyone that can answer this
guitars = not very good on computer mic inputs. Even my bass with active electronics is very quiet through my mic with boost. I'd suggest getting a pre-amp or a cheap 4-channel powered mixer if you want some serious quality.
thx man, its just that it plays good on other systems and the computer brought distortion goes up higher than a tube amps, even though its not the same quality. reminded me of a thing i have to try out, get a 20$ electric amp off some thrift thing, and run a bass through it on full volume, i hear they blow up :good: any suggestions? tho? might get one christmas
i plan to build myself a recording studio soon, heh dont really have the money, hopefully ill have enough for a good quality one by May
WOOO i have a creativ audigy sound card, plus cakewalk pro, with a behringer ub1002 mixer and some shure mics, works like a charm!
shure are probably the best mics out there, behringer mixers? hmm anything under 200$ doubt it, seems like all are between 300-500
i got my behringer mixer (10 channels in total-2mono and the other 8 can be 8 mono or 4 stereo) for £50 whats that about $80 its great for what i want, its got 45V pre amp and instead of the usual knobs for volume on cheaper mixers its actually got a slide!! i love it considering it wasnt that expensive.
well, not related to guitars (even though I play) The microphone itself works fine and is detachable from my headset (icemat siberia.) I have used the sound settings in the system tray and managed to put the microphone volume to the max but when I am using voice comms or recording with my headset everyone says that it is too quiet and I should turn up my microphone output. In various programs (teamspeak, windows sound recorder) i have tried to check the settings there but still it is too soft. I have a feeling that it might be something to do with the extra programs on my pc that came already installed. I have a toshiba satellite a100-405 and there are various applications installed. For example in my taskbar there is the "TOSHIBA Virtual Sound" utility that allows me to adjust the listening environments. In my control panel there is also a "realtek HD Sound Effect Manager" that lets me change the same settings as in the system tray and a few options about environments. One thing I noticed in the system tray advanced microphone settings is that I could not change those two bars that determine the bass and treble volumes. If I could increase these two I think it would be louder. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I think you need to enable the +20dB boost for the microphone... have you triple-checked this? You may have already solved it, this thread's a few months old.
