    Hi all,
new pc & on w-xp, trying to set up my email account on outlook express & keep getting this error message only when I send mail (i've blanked the email address & subject on purpose for this post!) I know all my settings are correct to that of my isp, ntl so dont understand whats happening!? I've sent a mail myself and some1 else i know that uses ntl & it lets that through but not mail to other isps or mail accounts!

tools>accounts>mail>select account>properties> and the incoming or outgoing mail server settings should say either pop.***.**.** or smtp.***.**.** etc...
or in your case it might be IMAP.***.**.**

one more program as i realised they have a bit of a crowded/complicated GUI,
    try Incredimail, thats well popular!

There's also Mozilla Thunderbird. But I don't think your problem is the mail app. You might want to check your mail settings on the ntlworld website and see if for some reason it will not allow mail to be sent to a server other than ntlworld, as that is specifically what the error says.

I did try mozilla, same thing happened. I thought the problem was over as since moving to broadband & isp my email address changed anyway. But since entering all the settings as per isp on outlook, it still doesnt work! This time it wont even connect to recieve or send, so think i'm stuck to webmail til i figure out which setting it is on XP that's doing this!! I have Norton Internet security installed, but even if i turn it off it remains the same GRRRRRRR

It has anything to do with the client you are using, please post the settings you are using for the account.

Also is your reply to email address an AOL email address or NTL? if its AOL it will need to be chaned to an your NTL email address. Since the reply address needs to be a NTL address or NTL will not send the email.

This may be the answer, although found on the tisacli website & not ntl, its prob the same with them. Ntl was my ISP until 2weeks ago, now i use tiscali, so sounds like i'm not allowed to send mail from that unless i'm connected via ntl. Bet ur all saying "well yeh obviously" to the screen now!? sorry if so!

thats correct, I used to be with freeserve but can no longer send email though there server. Only my current ISP or different email providers.
