    Sorry, another question regarding XP!
When i try & connect to broadband it'l come up with the "connection" box & already displays my username & password, thing is that the password is 16digits longer than my actual password! No matter if i change it & click "save password" or delete it and uncheck save etc etc it always displays the same thing! Havent a clue where its getting this password from!? I'm wondering if its an XP thing as my dad has the same problem although he uses a different ISP to me.

im not sure if its an XP thing but mine does the same thing but it doesnt actually change your password so its okay.
i think its a security feature to hide the actual length of the real password!

    ohhhh how weird!
I was about to blame my boyfriend as he was the one that set up the pc when it'd arrived! I'll let him off for that one now then!

It is a security feature. It retains your saved password, but it displays a long one to trick a would-be attacker. That way when your friend is sitting at your computer trying to destroy it while you are gone getting some food from the kitchen he can't tell if your passowrd is 3 digits or 25.

so should it in theory actually 'connect' the long password? (mine doesnt, i always have to type in my password)
