I have a crazy problem with my pc everything in it is new besides, the video card which is only about 3 months old (128mb Gforce nvidia), and my chips of ram which i have two chunks of 512mb. ok now my problem is i turn on my computer i hear no system beep like when you normally turn it on you can hear your pc make some funky noises, it seems to be working alright before it would turn off after like 30 seconds but i figgered out that i had a faulty processor. my other problem with it is i dont see anything on the monitor and i know the monitor is good because ive tryed three others besides this one and ive tryed this one with another computer and it working great. Hopefully someone out there knows the answer, Jmengels:crash:
Make sure the speaker is plugged into the motherboard, also make sure your CPU and graphics card are seated properly and check the motherboard manufacturers website to see if you RAM is compatible!
Take out the whole mobo from the casing and build it up bare. Plug in only the video card and CPU with heatsink, and one stick of memory at a time. Build up from there. Once everything's okay, place them in tha casing.
Hi m8 try clearing the cmos as well m8 as u shud do this wheather ou upgrade or build a new system from scratch. (if you need anymore help clearing the cmos post back asking). u could also try the parts individually in a wrking machine if you have one spare this way you could eliminate the faulty piece of hardware. Hope it helps Dave
Ive tryed other parts as well as using only what i would need to get the pc to boot up the only thing i havent tryed out of what you have all said is clearing cmos. Which actually i have never done on either of the 2 pcs ive build that is something i could use some help on, this way i can see if that makes a difference. Thx for the help so far.
The first thing I'd check is my cooling for the CPU. While I don't think the CPU is damaged yet, it is getting hotter than the speed it can operate. Could be something as simple as a fan on it's way out and might explain the noises you're hearing. The symptoms are also in line with improper or inefficient cooling.
ived tryed 4 different fans and ive had 4 hooked up at the same time. My main problem here is on this computer im building i cant see anything on the monitor and it would be helpful if i could that way i could mess with the bios and get this computer working right. Thanks anyway big b.
Look in ur mobo manuel and look for the cmos jumper. if u hav no manual tek the side of your pc and look for a battery the jumper is usually close to that its a small piece of plastic that bridges two pins take this off and put is on the next two pins for 10 seconds or 20 to be safe then but it back in it origionial position. if you cnt find the jumper remove the battery and short the two contacts for 10 secs or leave the batt out 4 a day. hope this helps dave
Also, why not try a PCI-based video card first. Those things, old as they are, are quite reliable. That way, you can at least narrow down the problem somehow.
Actually my bro told me to do that yesterday so he got me an older one from work. He said it worked great and he had tried it in another pc. i wish thats all my problem was. Also, i tried clearing the cmos. That didnt work. But, i was having this same probly on a junk pc i built and today i switched around the peg thingys (forgot the name of them) and i made it run 133mhz instead of 100mhz and it made the monitor see it for some odd reason and it worked. So then i got all excited and i looked at the asus motherboard manual to see were it was located on my motherboard, so i could try that. Thing is, is i didnt find anything about it in my manual for my board. Yet, it had been in the manual for the crappier board. Im starting to wonder if i got a junk board. And maybe if the company forgot to put something on it or maybe it got bumped the wrong way in the mail. Anyway I probly mess around with it a bit more...see if me or my bro can get it working right. Thx for sticking with me and trying to help. Ill leave you all a thanks just for trying to help me figger out this weird problem.
