Hey guys im new to these forums so please bear with me. I recently bought a leadtek winfast a400 tdh card and after eventually getting it running i was looking forward to playing some games. The card comes with prince of persia warrior within and splinter cell pandora tomorrow. My problem is that when i come to play these games they either are very jerky or freeze completely and then crash.Prince of persia is very jerky whilst showing the pregame cinematics and then it crashes on the main menu load screen.does anyone know how to solve this problem?thanks Mobo asrock 775i65GV Intel Pentium 4 540, 3200 MHz 502 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM) psu 320w 3.3v 20a 5.0v 32a 12v 16a windows xp SP2 need more info just ask
Well you should be getting between 60~90 FPS on max settings so id first recommend updating the drivers 77.72 (the newest), And last but not least the PSU, that PSU is very low wattage for that system so id recommend at least 400W, the 6800 is pretty beefy and so is the CPU! Other than that i dont know what could be causing this!
Thanks guys i will try these things. the driver version for my card as listed in device manager is 7.7.7.7. is this the right one i downloaded it today from the nvidia website? if the psu was under the wattage would it make the card just run slow? i thought it wouldnt work at all if it didnt have enough power? iam no expert on these matters so please correct me if i am wrong.regards
The PSU is almost certainly the prob here. You're not gettting enough clean power to your card. A simple upgrade to an Antec powersupply for instance will most likely solve this problem. Look for about 22a on the 12v rail. Pretty much every Thermaltake psu has 18a for some reason and they work fine but whatever you chose should come as a big upgrade, so long as you get a good brand. Also concider OCz, and seasonic.
with my motherboard (asrock 775i65GV) do i have to have a micro ATX PSU or can i get a normal ATX one? I only ask because after looking on the web i see that most of the micro ATX PSU's are under the wattage of my current PSU.thanks
o.k how about this psu would this be any good? also would it be compatible with my motherboard and case? thanks http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=5531&GroupID=506
thanks.anybody else got any thoughts on this.especially about compatiblity.i shall also have to make sure it fits in my case!regards
