Hello, I built my computer a few months ago (AMD 3000+ 1.8ghz, 80gb IDE HDD, 34gb SATA Raptor HDD, Geforce 6800 128mb AGP, 1gb (4, 256 sticks of same ram) and a 550W PSU). Recently when I start up a gaming application like Half-life 2 the computer restarts after a few minutes of playing. I read the error report and it said it was a Nvidia corporation driver problem. The forums their said to DL the 71.89 (April 14, 2005) drivers. So I did and it screwed up my computer where i could not get to the desktop or login screen. So I reformated and a few minutes into the desktop, I was installing motherboard drivers IT RESTARTED AGAIN. Please help, what is going on?!

What motherboard, RAM (specific brand and model), and the brand (model would help) of power supply do you have?

What temperatures are you getting (you should be able to check this in BIOS)?

My gut instinct tells me there either an insufficient power supply (not all units are created equal) or some cooling problems going on.

try installing the drivers you got with the original driver cd and see if it continues before upgrading

You might also check to see if you have the right DRAM voltages for your memory.

    first re-install the drivers,there is a new driver version 78.01 www.nvidia.com
if that doesnt help, try using onboard graphics..,try taking out RAM so it is 768 or 512mb..
