Hi, my folders have been fine until tonight! I went into them and all of my word documents and other files that open with other program changed really weird! they have all gone to the picture where it is a white piece of paper with small icons on it (where windows doesn't recognise the file). It has happened in all of my folders on the computer and where for example it is meant to be a Word Document, instead of saying Microsoft Word Document underneath the file name it says Doc (then has a arrow pointing upwards) file. This is really strange and does anyone know how to get it back to how it was? I am using XP if that helps anyone. Cheers
I've never encountered this problem, but I know what may help. Double click on the file so that it says Windows doesn't recognise it. Click the option to select program from a list. Check the box at the bottom that says "Always use this program." Now double click on the program that used to run it. That should fix the problem.
after doin what WWR said b sure to use a utility such as norton systems works to check your registry entries..definitely something might have gone wrong so its wiser if u use it to fix those problems right away..
