Hi guys, i recently got an XFX 6600GT 128mb GFX card, when i first installed it no problems, as weeks went on it keeps crashing all the time, i only really play one game and thats quake 3 arena: urban terror mod, so it doesnt need a dream to run etc, my spec is as follows: 1-Intel Pentium 4, 2812MHz, 512KB (28% Load) .:. (RAM) usage: 410/1024MB (40.04%) .:. (GFX) NVIDIA Device ID 0x00F1 (Omega 1.6177) (Q), (Display) 1280x1024/32bit/60Hz [17:26:54] [@|it|Forc3] (OS) Windows XP Professional (5.1 - 2600), (uptime) 59m 28s .:. PSU is a 500 watt dual fan one, temps are: Or click here if somebody could please get back to me asap id appreciate it.
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Its a Q-Tec...possible one of the worst PSU makers...ever... Seriously get a better one, look here for advice on getting a new one.
thanks, can u recommend a good place to buy, and good brands, not TOO expensive, wud u say this is my problem? i never had this problem before tho and had this psu for a year
yeah sure www.overclockers.co.uk www.eclipsecomputers.com they have some good ones, look for a branded trusted one like in the link i told you to look at, I've got a Tagan TG480-U01 which is an awesome PSU (i also noticed you live in hertfordshire, ME TOO! i live in Hemel Hempstead!)
well it could be another problem but if it were me i'd get a new PSU anyway, Q-Tec aint-too-good and they'll probably take out the rest of your hardware if it does decide to give up the ghost, You could have some bad RAM check out Memtest86 and try that, see if you get any errors.
its not just Watts, you need enough AMP's as well, I'd say you'd need about 25A on the 12V rail for that system, but others may think otherwise, I dont think you could go wrong with a PSU like mine Its this one here I cant hear it, it provides good stable clean power and has awesome ratings/reviews.
so my friend, tell me, whats all this dual voltage business about? rails etcs, ive looked a pix of it sayin u can run combined or single, what does it achieve?
it supplies different parts with their own 12V line, meaning not all the load is put on one line thus reducing stress on the PSU.
chars mate, il keep you posted, altho heres a theory for you, only certain drivers work on my grpahics card, some wont play media player files etc, ive got a nice working driver now, but still my games suck, ive noticed something that might help you narrow it down for me, it only does it on quake 3 arena : Urban terror, which is the mod i play for a pro clan... n e ideas why oinly 1 game has the issue here?
try re-installing the game and the mods..or play without the mod n see if the problem is still there...
