Well here it is, the computer mis-use/oops its gone wrong thread, a thread dedicated to things you have found on the net, either people abusing computers or things that have gone wrong
Well here's one website I came across...poor computers.
Any of you got any stories of things that have gone wrong?
Mine is a PSU blew on me as soon as the power cable was plugged in...yes it was generic and was badly made...Luckily it didnt break aything inside my computer and I didnt get shocked...Phew! :eek:hah:

My first PC i was scared of breaking the CPU by putting the HSF on it as it requird lots of force. So i let it hang from one clip making very light contact. Suffice to say it didn't start.

I've also broken the AGP clip off my crappy KT6V mobo that holds my beloved FX5900.

I once manhandled a socket A heatsink in order to take it off. I had a screw driver and a knife. Couldn't pry it off, finally i said , hmm maybe it just needs brute force....24 hours later i ordered my friend a new motherboard....first screw up with a computer/electronic- won't be the last.

I was trying to install some old PC100 RAM in a very cheap computer i had, those ancient creations required alot of force to get the sticks in the slot, suffice to say i ended up snapping the RAM stick in two peices and took out out the DIMM slot at the same time!
Not to worry, only cost me 5 bucks :)

I once tried to update my video card drivers and failed miserably. I installed the drivers, rebooted, and my computer wouldnt boot. I ended up having to reformat and i lost everything.

That almost happened to me Crusha, except I didn't loose everything. Probably my worst habit is when something bothers me I usually chase after it and start deleting things. I had major spyware problems that I didn't fully understand and internet explorer was being dumb and kept hangning and then opening a million copies of itself and stashing crapware in my app tray so I ran after what I thought was internet explorer hoping to delete it. In my blind rage I deleted part of windows explorer instead and took a few more things with it thinking they were spyware. Needless to say after that my computer was hopelessly screwed up to the point where it would only stay on for 20 minutes untill it would randomly reboot on me. I thought it was the PSU and bought a new one, some more ram to speed things up and reinstalled. It's been fine ever since (I put it back together again to try to play Chronicles of Riddick and Knights of the Old Republic again).
