Well on my x800 XL my idle is 49 or 50*C, and if i turn on ATI Tray tool i can push the fan to 100% and then it idles at 46*C,m but that is freaking loud as crap. Under load it gets up in the 70s, is that to hot. Is it worth is to buy a new HSF.

Arctic Cooling makes a damned good VGA cooler, with load temps that high i'd recommend one. They aren't too much, 20-30 USD at www.newegg.com

i was eyeing the Arctic silencers for ATI x800s and up, plus some AS 5, only think is Ill need $37 for that one. Might be able to find a way into getting my parents to pay for it.

what about your load temps. Well i can put my fan as low as 65 or 70% and still get 45 but i cant get any lower than 45 even when the fan is at 100%, and 70*C seems kinda high for load or im i just overreacting

my load temperatures are usually about 50-55 degrees.
but, the car automatically adjusts the speed of the fan if the temperature goes higher.

no, it dont, as all you do is if you wanted say, a refund, it replace the new fan with the old one.

are you going to get a new cooler now?
