Ok well i put every thing together the specs are as follows CPU: P4 630 MoBo: MSI Neo-f 945P LGA 775 Mem: 1GB of OCZ Gold Series DDR2 533MHz CAS 3-3-3-5 PSU: Antec Smart Power 2.0 450 GPU: Asus radeon x300 SE (not hypermemory) HD: WD 160GB SATA II OD: Lite on Combo Drive Heres the deal, when i turn every thing on all the fans spin up and you can hear the hard drive start up, and no picture. Ive tried different monitors, different cables, now im gonna go take out my x800 xl and swap it to see if thats the problem. If you have any suggestions please give them, Im gonna be back in like 15 minutes or so.
well that didnt work, i have absolutly no idea what to do please help, would a problem with how the CD drive is plugged into MoBo or whether or not it is getting power affect the start up. Also no beeps when my system starts up. This is only my second build so im still somewhat of a novice. I got lucky on my first build no problems, everything started up and was detected first try. Heres MoBo Pic http://www.newegg.com/Product/Showi...+T+(LGA+775)+Intel+945P+ATX+Intel+Motherboard If the IDE cable from the CD drive is in the motherboard the CD drive wont power up, if it is out the CD drive will power up. I tried swithiching cables but didnt help. I only have one IDE port on the MoBo,
Try booting with essentials `RAM (only one will do) `Power `CPU `Motherboard `Video card Clear CMOS and see if you can get a display up. If all else fails, Take everything and try to get a video signal with the motherboard on a non-conductive surface like cardboard. So everything's out of the case and on something that won't short any connections on the motherboard. After ruling out all of the 4 essential parts that can be changed and fairly easily tested...Looks like the motherboard isn't too happy or is dead.
ATTENTION!! This requires an 8-pin 12v connection for the CPU as well as a MOLEX connection near the PCI slot for added power. Newegg has an adapter for the 4-pin to an 8-pin connection. i just read this in a review i guess im gonna need one of these arent I, do you guys know any mobo with an 8-pin 12v connector, my AMD system had 4 pin so i didnt even think of that as being a problem.
I already tried the booting with the essentials, but i think i found my problem, wiht the 8-pin connector.,
Seems so. 8-pin it is. http://www.laptops4me.com/product_info.php/products_id/3747 looks like one should have come with your motherboard
well i got the 8-pin connector and now it does 1 long a i think 3short beeps, supposedly meaning failed conventional or extended mem. does this mean bad ram. MSI has no telephone tech support im so pissed.
If your manual says that's what the beeps denote than you may want to do a bit of ram swapping. I would have suspected Gold Series would have worked but MSI isn't know for working perfectly the first try.
Well actually i mis read and 1 ong and 2 short is a vid card problem so i swapped out vid cards put in my x800, and it booted, then i put the x300 back in and it booted thank god, Im loading windows right now about 20% done. Thank god i didnt have to wait for returns, damn am i relieved, I hope my friends mom like this comp
