hey, I bought a hyper 6+ but the fan only runs at 1800 rpms when plugged onto the cpu 3 pin header. The fan is supposed to run at 3600 rpm, and it has a 4-pin connector, but I don't see a 4-pin fan header on my mobo. Would there be an adapter or something so it'll run at full speed, or should I hook it up differently? thanks
The fan on the heatsink probably has a temperature sensor in it, so at low temperature it spins slow and higher temperatures it adjusts its speed accordingly. The 4 pin is probably a molex type connector allowing you to run it that way, but in doing so, something else has to be plugged in to the 3 pin CPU header to report some RPM's so the computer can boot! If the CPU temperature is not concerning you, then i would just live with a silent cooler
yeah the temperature isn't bad, but this is just a 100mm fan stuck on the heatsink. It doesn't have a temp sensor. The 4-pin connector isn't a molex either, it just looks like a normal 3-pin fan header except its a four pin.
I think its running on 7v instead of 12v but its coming right off a 3-pin header. I don't think thats right, but the fan connector is a small 4-pin, not molex, just like a 3-pin. Could someone give me some advice on this, I want it to run faster. I used this site for information on my cooler http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=151&type=expert
Hmm on that table under the list of Key Features it says And after going through a page i think it was I came across this Now I did a search on PWM on google so look here for that, hope it helps!
