Why is my laptop running @ 748Mhz!? Im trying to update the bios, its Ameritrend. Just wondering if anyone could help me with the mayjor loss of CPU power...
What program are you using to check the speeds? Check out a program called CPUInfo from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3900.html Use that on both your computers and tell us what it says.
Your laptop will have some sort of power saving feature which will hammer the CPU's speed when it's not needed. When you open a game for example, the laptop will automatically adjust the CPU's speed accordingly! If the speed is always the same, then the feature may have been disabled in the BIOS!
