PC kept crashing, investigated problem. Graphics card too hot to touch. Would it be fair to say that the card is knackered?
Geforce Ti4200, now i've got it out of the PC it looks like the heat sink is full of dust, so maybe blowing it out would solve the problem?
Yes, clean your case and heatsinks inside it! Whenever you notice a decrease in performance, clean out your case and heatsinks, otherwise your just shortening the life of your PC! What made you touch the thing in the first place?
Been having problems with PC re-booting, but only when running lots of programs or gaming. So I assumed it was heat related. when I went to open the case I could feel the side was warm, all fans, card included were working, so I touched the card and found it extremely hot! I think though I may have accidently "overclocked" the system when I installed some new memory, the speed on the BIOS screen for the memory went from 166mhz to 200mhz, took me a while to realise, I've now put it back to 166 and keeping my fingers crossed.
There's no way you can 'Accidently Overclock' your system, because it requires some sort of user input to change options. The speed changed to 200, probably because you added DDR400 RAM. If you added DDR400 RAM and are operating the DDR333 stick aswell, make sure you put the DDR400 stick in the FIRST slot and the DDR333 in the second etc... Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong :good:
I think that is what I was trying to say It just seems that all the problems started after I did that
