Hello, I want to build a new computer, but need some advice budget wise. I cant really go over 800$. I already have my ram (1 GB ddr400) and my disc drives and hard drive. Im looking for a gaming computer, and i know i want an SLI ready motherboard and an Nvidia 6800 GT or up. If you have an CPU suggestions thatd be great. Thanks
wats up alex, (hey guys i dragged a new one in bwahaha) yea in my opinion AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (939) Venice A8NSLI Deluxe 7800GT (SLi ready) PCIex16 and dont forget u need a psu too, id recommend a good antec for around 70$ and that fits in perfectly
Good to hear from you Z! How's it hanging man So yeah I'd say zRock is right on the money. But just for a little variety try looking into the following (I'm assuming you need a case but I'll leave it to you it's obviously mostly about personal preference). DFI SLI-DR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136158 Antec TruePower II http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103931 3500+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103533 Sound Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102176 7800GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130256 Okay so that's a bit over $800 but not much, I think it's worth it. Let me know exactly what components you need and I'll be happy to revise the list
Well I also want something that would be good for Macromedia Flash, its kind of a hobby of mine. However, for the most part, usually if you have a good gaming rig, you have a good flash rig, so whatever you think will see fit.
hey ex yea i kno long time, yea this one managed to drag me back in but it kind of feels good to be back
Well I glad you stopped by, cool to have you onboard again. Yeah sometimes certain threads are just beggin to be answered no matter how busy you are.
The DFI boards rock pretty hard, but make sure you don't use cheap-ass stuff with those boards. Generally, if the RAM you have is designated as 'Value' DDR, you're going to find the DFI NF4's do not like them. These are high-performance motherboards, so you can't pair them with low-end parts. The other thing you'll want, is a good power supply, especially if you want SLI. Remember, you can always snag the second card for dirt cheap later on, but it's better to be prepared with a good power supply. The cheapest SLI approved power supplies are the Sunbeam NUUO 500W (and the only modular one on the SLI Certified list) and the Enermax EG565-P VE, like the one I run. The DFI NF4 boards are great, but if you're not a patient person, avoid them and just get an Asus board.
Good advice there B, yeah they're very overclock and tweak friendly. If your not in the mood to do all that it's still a nice board but with some wasted potential and money that way.
