Be honest, which aspect ratio do you perfer (on your monitor or in most cases your TV)? I'm personally all about 4:3, I feel that you just get a more natural looking image with extra realestate, no letter boxes, and no squashed images. I've heard the whole "cinematic" arguement about 16:9 but I'm not really taken by a longer yet much shorter image, I imagine it looks pretty damn good with the right TV and settings but for now an HDTV CRT 4:3 is what I'm shooting for. But let's hear you're take on the matter.
I usually have my monitor at 4:3, I'm not too sure about my TV though, it's a 57" Wide Screen Projection.
4:3 all the way for me They say that 16:9 is 'supposed' to preserve the cinema feel which i think is total crap because cinemas are using 75 FOOT screens, not 68cm screens!
Stimpe, you've probably got a 16:9 aspect ratio on your TV as widescreen implies an image much wider than tall
That's what I thought but I wasn't quite sure :s I haven't even hooked my PC up to that TV yet! I wanna play BF:2 on it so bad. The only problem is I don't have surround sound.
I would have posted this in the War Zone myself.... I am all for 4:3! I cannot bleive people prefer to watch stretched images with black borders everywhere. I have a 4:3 TV and all my :swear: DVD's are wide screen. I would like to grab hold of the :swear: idiot who thought up this :swear: idea! I would grab his 16:9 watsits and :swear: convert them to 4:3 :smahd: . If I want a cinema feel I :swear: go to the cinema. Have you noticed how you feel like some stuff escapes the corner of your eye with widescreen? And try and find a 4:3 TV these days. AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH :swear: Kill 16:9! :gun:
I'm for 4:3 but maybe thats because I don't have a 16:9 TV, so if I did put it that way the images look stretched. I like the cinema feel but you have to have the right equipment.
16:9 TV dont have stretched images, at first when my dad got this sony 100hz 28" trinitron tv i though, eww omg the image is all stretched, everyone looks fat, but on normal tv, everything is not stretched anymore, and there is no black lines at the top and bottom, and i noticed on some channels like the selection of discover channels, i have seen programs that have black lines at left and right, and they seem so much better, so much sharper and cleaner. 16:9 all the way!
Well on my computer 4:3 is better (I have 2 screens both with 4:3...1024x768, that's pretty much 4:3 right?!) but on my TV in my room i like 16:9 it's a widescreen 24" thing, not massive but a good size for moveis in my room, I wanna put my PC through it to see what it's like. On my TV downstairs 4:3 is better because it's an old 28" thing and isn't widescreen, although we ever get the 'letterbox' feel, it just cuts off the edges!
Home theater+16:9=good Gaming+16:9=bad Home theater+4:3=good Gaming+4:3=good So, for 16:9: 1+-1=0 So, for 4:3: 1+1=2 Well that explains it enough for me. Lets see how many people I just confused with that.
