The following are the specifications of the sytem:
    AMD64 3500+
    1GB DDR400 PC3200 RAM
    ATi Radeon 9800pro 128M

Would this system be able to run Quake 4? if Yes at what resolution could I play the game without any lags?

Hard to say, but it would certainly play it.

The processor is excellent, and the ram is also good.

The graphics card will be the only thing holding it back, and even then it won't have a huge impact.

I'd say 1024x768 on high settings. Maybe higher resolution

I beat the game at same settings with my system getting occasional video lag.

Have you played Doom 3? If so, you should be able to run things at about the same level, as Q4 is based off the same engine. It's got a few extras, which some people are saying has it lagging a little in some area's, but pretty much, it's the same thing performance-wise.

I'm curious why you have a 6600GT listed under my computer but you want to play it with a 9800Pro? Someone elses computer? Either way I'd say high on 800x600 for starters and see how that goes, if it plays well step it up to 1024x768 but I wouldn't try putting on any AA or AF if I were you.

I have almost the same setup and I run doom3 1024x768 just fine, so I don't imagine you'd have too much trouble running Quake4.

Probably not though an extra 512MB's would make a big difference, helped me big time with Halflife 2.
